The land of Cane Creek Farm was bought by the Pugh family from O.W. Adams in 1986. He had bought the land from Forrest Wade, a Cherokee Indian who had grown corn on the creek bottom. A huge beech tree with Indian markings is found along Cane Creek. Subdivisions have been built on three sides of the farm in recent years, changing the rural nature of the community.
